Oral Surgery

Such as the removal of impacted teeth, restoring missing teeth with dental implants, and to treat sleep apnea (when working with a sleep specialist). We are committed to performing comfortable procedures to help you achieve your oral health goals.

What does oral surgery entail?

When you require oral surgery, you can expect to receive some form of sedation. This is because your dentist at NEW TEETH DENTAL SOLUTIONS will be making an incision into the gums and working within the tissues on your teeth. The sedation is necessary to minimize pain and discomfort, both during the surgery itself and during your recovery time. Before you receive any treatment, your dentist will perform a thorough evaluation and clearly explain what will happen during the procedure. You may also discuss your sedation options.

What is oral surgery used for?

  • Impacted teeth: teeth that erupt at an angle or only partially. Often, these are the wisdom teeth, which come in between the ages of 17 and 25. Impacted teeth can lead to pain, swelling, and an infection in the surrounding areas. The impacted teeth will have to be removed in order to preserve the health of the neighboring teeth and gum tissues.
  • Dental implants: a form of tooth restoration consisting of small metal posts being inserted into the jawbone. Dental implants provide a very stable foundation for a dental prosthetic, allowing you to use the restoration just like natural teeth. Surgery is required to put the posts in place.
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders: issues in the TMJ can cause headaches, toothaches, and facial pain. Common non-invasive treatments for TMJ disorders include medications, physical therapy, and mouth guards. Surgery is an option for cases that are more advanced, where the diagnosis can point to a specific area in the joint to be treated.

In most cases, you’ll need someone to drive you home from our office in HOUSTON, TX following your appointment. You will receive detailed instructions on how to handle the treated area after surgery at NEW TEETH DENTAL SOLUTIONS to help you heal properly.
