Teeth Cleaning & Dental HygieneHouston, TX

Just like your car needs consistent oil changes to run smoothly, your teeth need consistent maintenance so that you can get the most out of your smile.

Did you know that 47.2% percent of adults aged 30 or older have a form of periodontitis (gum disease)? The sad thing is, this painful condition can be avoided with simple, consistent oral hygiene. Many people don’t take frequent or adequate care of their oral health.

The good news is that by putting in the proper effort into your oral hygiene daily, and by visiting our office on a recurring basis, you can greatly reduce your chances of doing long-term damage to your oral health.

Our office offers many services to help keep your smile healthy and strong, but there’s a lot you can do as well. We will do our part to help your mouth stay healthy, but without good consistent brushing on your part, you put yourself at risk of serious oral problems.

Our Approach To Cleaning Your Teeth

Even though we offer plenty of restorative dental procedures and treatments, our priority is to prevent you from ever needing them. When you come into New Teeth Dental Solutions, you can expect to have your teeth thoroughly cleaned, examined, and positioned for your optimal success.

  • We will use the latest digital technology to take x-rays of your teeth. This will help our dentists to identify any problem areas and understand the current state of your oral health.
  • Next, we will take you back to our dental chair. Sit back and relax while we take care of you! We will make sure that you are comfortable as we professionally brush, floss, and remove any plaque that is on your teeth.
  • Before you leave, we will check your teeth again to make sure we did everything properly, and we will provide you with the proper education for taking care of your teeth at home.

At-Home Oral Hygiene

Taking care of your teeth shouldn’t be something that you constantly procrastinate on. It doesn’t take much time and requires little effort for such a tremendous benefit. Here is what you should do when you leave our office so that taking care of your teeth is simple and practical:

  • Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day (in the morning and at night): Brushing your teeth twice a day prevents the buildup of food and plaque on your teeth. Acid from plaque won’t have the chance to erode your teeth and gums and cause cavities.
  • Floss Daily: Many people brush their teeth regularly, but forget to floss. Flossing gets all of the hard-to-reach areas in between your teeth that your toothbrush is incapable of clearing out.
  • Brush Your Teeth for the Right Amount of Time: It’s easy to brush your teeth absentmindedly and only spend a couple of seconds cleaning them. You should spend 2 minutes brushing your teeth once in the morning, and once at night before going to bed.
  • Use the Right Tools for the Job: Are the bristles on your toothbrush smashed down? Are you using toothpaste that is ADA recommended? Your toothbrush should have stiff bristles that are still gentle on gums, and the right toothpaste can make all the difference.

We will cover these suggestions in greater detail during your appointment, but just remember that taking care of your teeth is very important for your overall health.
